I am so used to seeing pelicans hanging around the docks, begging for any handout anyone is willing to toss their way. When I see them roosting in trees like “real” birds, I am always somewhat startled.

A friend took me to this very cool mangrove “island” that is home to all kinds of roosting pelicans, gulls, and other sea birds. It was so quiet as we drifted through, trying not to disturb the residents. But when one took off, they all followed the leader. More photos to follow over the next few days.
